A Book Review: Checkmate: This Is Effortless by Kennedy Fox

A huge thank you to Kennedy Fox for sending me an e-arc of this book! You guys are amazing!!

If you have not read the first book in this duo, This is Reckless, STOP READING!!! There are spoilers for the first book in Courtney and Drew's duo!

After years of having a secret crush on her best friend, Courtney is beyond ecstatic when Drew finally realizes the feelings he had for her. As they start to plan a future for themselves as a couple, something, well...someone, threatens to tear them apart.  This threat really throws a wrench in their plans. They have to decide if the threat that is lurking around every corner will tear them apart or of they are strong enough to get through it.

I absolutely loved the first book in this duo, This Is Reckless. I loved watching Courtney pine after Drew. I was rooting for them the entire book until they FINALLY got together. So, I was so excited to read this one and see what happens after that HUGE cliff-hanger at the end of the book. I was not disappointed.

I really enjoyed This Is Effortless. I liked seeing how Drew and Courtney handled everything with Mia and that they didn't let her tear them apart. I did find this one a little too sweet because they were already in a relationship when this book started. Their relationship in this book isn't as heated, but it still had me swooning and wishing I had a deputy of my own! The ending left me smiling for hours after I finished it.

I also really liked the build up of Kayla and Logan's relationship. I cannot wait to get my hands on their books!

Overall, I really enjoyed This Is Effortless and I cannot wait to read more from Kennedy Fox!!!

Four Stars!!!

A Book Review: Checkmate: This is Reckless by Kennedy Fox

I want to start off by saying I was lucky enough to receive and e-copy of this book for review from Kennedy Fox! When I got the e-mail I totally freaked out because this is the first book I've ever received for review. However, since I have not read This Is War or This Is love, I ordered all three books in paperback so I could stare at them lovingly on my shelf. But, I am still very grateful to have received an e-copy.

Checkmate: This Is Reckless is about two best friends who have roomed together for two years realizing they have feelings for each other. Drew and Courtney have been best friends for years. Courtney has been pining for Drew since they met, but Drew has never seen her as anymore than just "one of the guys." They couldn't imagine life without each other but all of this changes when they share one drunken night together. After, Drew begins seeing Courtney in a new light.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I have always been a lover of friends-to-lovers romances and This Is Reckless is one of the best ones I've ever read. I loved Drew and Courtney's relationship as friends. I thought it was adorable and had me longing for a friendship like theirs. It was so cute and they are just so cozy and comfortable with each other. You want them to get together after you read the prologue when you are sent back months before the night they get together happens.

The only thing that threw me off in this book was the reference to things that happened in Travis and Viola's story. Since I have not read the first two, some things were spoiled for me. I would definitely recommend reading Travis and Viola's books first.

Even though I didn't read them in the order I was supposed to, I really loved this book. It was cute and fun and totally addicting! I broke my no-reading rule that I have because of my concussion to read this. Definitely worth the pain! I cannot wait to read the next book!!

Five stars!

A Book Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan

The Room Mate is the first book I've ever read by Kendall Ryan and it will not be my last!

Cannon Roth is in his last year of med school. He is anxious to finish his residency and has sworn off dating and women after a bad break-up leaves him homeless. When his older sister Allie convinces her long time best friend, and Cannon's long time crush, Paige to let Cannon stay with her until he is finished with his residency, his plan to swear off women is thrown out the window.

Paige is in a dry spell. Much to her best friend's dismay, Paige has no interest in joining the dating/hooking up community. She is perfectly content and happy with her life. All of this changes when her best friend's older brother moves in with her.

Their attraction towards each other is hard to resist. Cannon is convinced that every woman he sleeps with will fall madly in love with him. Paige is determined to prove him wrong...and get a few mind-blowing orgasms along the way.

This book is a fun, sexy, light read. I enjoyed it so much. I read it so quickly and didn't even realize I read the entire thing in a few hours until I was on the last page.

I loved Paige and Cannon's relationship. It was interesting because Cannon was four years younger than her, but it was not weird at all.

Overall, this was a really fun, sexy read. I recommend it to anyone who likes this kind of read.

Life Update!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I still have three reviews to post for you guys and I'm so behind on my reading goal for this month.

I actually ran into a door a few weeks ago and gave myself a concussion. Ha.

So, I haven't been able to read as much as I have wanted to. But I am on the mend so hopefully I can catch back up. Thankfully, I was ahead by 5 books on my reading goal so I am not behind yet!
